It's Thursday after work, you swipe right and it's a match. after some back and forth flirting you have a date set up for tomorrow. You look outside and see the pile of dust that is your car. How else to impress that new date without a clean, fresh car. Or you have an important business meeting at your local coffee shop that's covered in windows. Do you really want that client seeing a hunk of metal with holograms and swirl marks? This is a question you have to ask yourself. What is the driving factor in picking up your phone and calling in your local mobile detailer, getting quotes from a shop, or texting your buddy if he has time for a quick wash? How much time do you have? What are you expecting from this detail in terms of quality, service performed, and amount paid?
Detailing has such a vast array of jobs that could be offered since not every vehicle is the same or needs the same process of work. As the client, before calling in, ask yourself what are the key parts of your vehicle that are bothering you. Is it the interior? Dirty, and greasy leather? Smoke scents coming through the ventilation? Carpet staining, Dog Hair, or maybe just a decent refresh, every vehicle interior needs some assistance sooner or later. As for the exterior, did you see something in the paint? Water spots or contamination? Rough paint, water sticking? Swirl marks and scratches?
On top of what's bothering you every vehicle has a story to it. What vehicle are you offering to bring in? Is it brand new, a classic, a daily driver, or maybe even an exotic? Are you looking for protection or reconditioning? Did you just purchase a used car and want to remove the presence of the old owner from it? Are you trying to sell your vehicle and pull as much sell price for it? There's so many questions that could be asked before even considering what type of detail you want or need.
Only one question matters though. What Value can your Detailer give to you? For best results, find your vehicle's issues, understand your detailer's capabilities, and determine what price you are willing to pay to get your vehicle the way you want it.
And just remember, Cheap Work isn't Good, and Good Work isn't Cheap.
